To the newbies/freshies batch of 2009, we would like to welcome you into the NTU Silat Club family, with hope that your time with us would leave a lasting memory of your years here in NTU/NIE!

NTU Silat Club will be putting up a booth at Recruitment Fair 2009 from 17th-19th August 2009, NTU North Spine (outside LT4) from 9am-5pm. Interested participants do pay us a visit at booth B13 to find out more about our club and to sign up as a member!
Those unable to make their way to our booth can still come down for our Welcome Tea 2009 event which is going to be held on the 25th of August 2009 (Tuesday) @ Sports & Recreation Centre Activity Room 1, from 7.00 pm – 9.30pm.
Doors will open at 7.00 pm
Muslim participants are encouraged to Iftar (Break Fast) together and it will be potluck.Non-muslims are welcome to join in the Iftar as well. =)
Praying area will be provided.

As the new academic year approaches, we bid farewell to our graduating members who have completed their course of study in NTU/NIE and are moving on to their respective working world.
A chalet-bbq was held at Goldkist Beach Resort (ECP) last Saturday, 1st August 2009, to celebrate their success and to acknowledge them for their commitment to the club in the past years. The event was also to acknowledge the contributions and the effort of the ex-committee in the running of the club.
We hope that those who came had fun and enjoyed themselves. Should there be any shortcomings on our part, we greatly apologize for that.
And lastly, on behalf of the current members of the NTU Silat Club, we would like to wish the graduating members best wishes and good luck for their future undertakings! Selamat maju jaya(:
23 june 2009. venue was amirah’s grill at arab street. it was a night dedicated to celebrate our success during the recently concluded Tertiary Silat Championship 2009 held in our very own school. spoiling ourselves with sumptuous food, peaceful ambience and the company of great friends.

at the end of our delightful dinner, each of us began the process of electing for our new ntu silat committee for the upcoming academic year. after a process of voting and decision making, the new committee was founded. the following key appointment holders are as follows…

This year round, NTU played host for Tertiary Silat Championships 2009 which was stretched over two weekends, on the 5th – 7th, 13th & 14th June 2009. It was held at NTU’s Sports & Recreation Centre (SRC) Sports Hall.
Our members and athletes did a remarkable job in balancing between running the event as host of the competition, cheering on teammates who are competiting as well as taking part in events. We managed to pull off a smooth sailing event despite our small numbers as everyone played their role in contributing to the successful running of it all.
This year, NTU Silat Club managed to clinch one Gold medal, two Silver medals, three Bronze medals and came in 2nd Runner Up overall in the Artistic Category. Kudos to all medal winners for their achievement!!

24 february 2009. mini olympics 2009 was an event organised by our own NTU Muslim Society with the objectives of creating a closer bond among the muslims in NTU through sports. the event was held at our own Sports & Recreational Centre.
in support of the event, our own NTU Silat Club sent a team to represent our club in the event. named The Boyzzz, our team comprises of Ardi, Haffiz, Shahid, Firdaus and Ahmad. Each team was required to compete in 2 events. futsal and handball.
first tournament was the futsal game. qualified as winners of our group stage. and we went all the way to the finals. and we won by a single goal in the finals, courtesy of Ahmad’s quick feet.
second tournament was the handball game. and yet again we qualified to the knock-out stages as winners of our group and again…. we won the finals. against the same team that we met in the futsal tournament. NTU Silat emerged as champions for both tournaments!
after our lunch and dzuhur break, it was the closing ceremony. and we received participation certificates and…. MEDALS! Like true olympians! Wow…

despite the surprising fact that we haven’t played with each other prior to this event before, we still give our best effort and worked together as a team. the victory was certainly a great morale boost for our club with the upcoming tertiary silat championship getting closer. may we continue on this momentum of victory to the upcoming championships! kudos to our close bonds as a unified team.
3day/2night of bonding time, fun filled activities, sweating it out under the sun at Pasir Ris Home Team NS Chalet last December was what Bonding Camp 2008 was all about. With the main aim of forging a closer bond between members of the NTU Silat club, especially for the newbies that have recently joined in for that academic year, it provided not only a platform to bridge those gaps but to invoke a sense of togetherness in the team and light up the NTU spirit in the new ones!

1st december 2008. it was a day filled with fun, laughter and joy. celebrating our success after the semestral examinations. recovering well after suffering under the exam fever. after a month of hardwork and sleepless nights. it was time to have fun by the beach of sentosa. with lots of food, chilled drinks and a wide variety of games, it was certainly a great way to be away from our urban jungle.
